Seize the Day : After this, you’ll stop wasting time

Today, I am here to offer you a unique perspective on time, a concept that, once understood, will make you stop wasting time. After this, every day, month, and year of your life will be under your control.

The biggest reason behind wasting our time is a misconception, an illusion that we carry in our minds. It’s the belief that “there’s plenty of time left.” This is the biggest misunderstanding when we delay things thinking, “There’s plenty of time left.”
Let’s say, for instance, if you have to study for 5 hours one day or accomplish any productive task, and you keep postponing it by thinking, “I have the whole day ahead of me, why rush?” This kind of thinking causes us to miss out on something. If we look at time in terms of numbers, it seems practical. For example, out of 24 hours, you only have to work for 5 hours. We can do those 5 hours anytime during the day, so why not do it at the end of the day? What’s the problem? But things don’t work like this in actual life because you won’t be in the same mood for all 24 hours, ready to work whenever you want. We can’t always feel motivated and energetic. So, from now on, you shouldn’t look at time in terms of numbers but rather in terms of energy. How? What does this mean? Let’s see.

“I convey the conversation with my friend, I had explained this concept to him as well. A few days ago, he told me that after waking up in the morning, he spends 1-2 hours just scrolling through shorts, and then starts his day with whatever studying or work he needs to do. He said that “when I sit down to study after wasting time on these useless things, I just can’t focus, the studying doesn’t go well and I end up looking at my phone again. This is how the whole day goes by and at the end of the day, I feel so guilty.”
So, he was also considering that even if he wastes 1-2 hours, what difference will it make, he still has the whole day left.
So, first of all, put this in your mind that time is not numbers. ‘Time is energy, Time is fuel.’ A person who has 5 days but no energy while another person has only 5 hours but is fully energetic, so, the latter person will achieve more, he’ll do everything on time. Time gets wasted because of laziness means if there’s laziness, time will be wasted. For example when someone says they just don’t feel like doing this work, they are actually saying that they don’t have the energy.
Most people think of doing their most important work when they have absolutely no energy left. means instead of doing productive things, they first indulge in useless activities in this illusion that we have plenty of time. But what will you do in the later time when you have absolutely no energy left. You won’t even feel like doing anything.”

The graph illustrates how our energy gradually declines from the beginning of the day until afternoon and then further drops after a power nap. Consider this scenario: if you expend all your energy on trivial matters early in the day, how will you focus on important tasks later on? Just like our bodies, our minds also have stamina and require fuel. If we deplete our mental energy elsewhere, where will we find the energy for essential tasks later? If we lack energy, we’ll feel lazy, leading to procrastination and distractions. You must have noticed how when we feel empty, we tend to indulge in mindless activities like scrolling through our phones or even dozing off, and thus falling into an unproductive loop.

The key is to utilize your peak energy times exclusively for tasks that truly matter to you. Whether it’s after waking up in the morning, taking a power nap in the afternoon, or even working efficiently at night for some. During your highest energy times, don’t let anyone else dictate your priorities; work solely for yourself. If you find yourself starting your day by watching reels, realize that you’re not just wasting time but also expending energy that could have been reserved for your own tasks. Now you might wonder if entertainment doesn’t matter in life ? Let me tell you one more thing.

You can entertain yourself anytime, pleasure-giving activities can happen anytime, but important tasks will only be accomplished during high-energy times. For instance, if you work diligently throughout the day, put in the effort and then indulge in funny content, watch a movie, or attend a party, you can do these things quite easily. Here, you won’t feel like, ‘Oh, I’m so tired today, I don’t have the energy, I won’t be able to watch reels, enjoy something tasty, watch a movie, or go to a party.’ No, no matter how tired you are, how many hours you’ve studied, how much work you’ve done, you can engage in pleasure-giving activities at any time.
But if you try to do necessary tasks requiring willpower and energy after indulging in leisure activities for 3-4 hours, you won’t be able to. Your mind won’t feel like it. In situations where we have lower energy levels, our mind always tends to choose tasks that require less effort, where energy expenditure is minimized and rewards are instant.
Consequently, laziness will creep in because the level of dopamine or pleasure you were getting from those activities won’t be achieved by studying, You might not find as much joy in working, Consequently, your every day will become unproductive, being caught up in trivial things, and every day you’ll ended up feeling guilty.
Another thing, you can use these things (instant – pleasure activities ) as motivation to complete your tasks, like eat chocalate or watch 5-10 minutes of reels after 60 minutes of deep work, after working 6 to 7 hours during the day, watching a movie, going out with friends, or doing anything that brings you joy.

So the conclusion is, you shouldn’t waste your dopamine, your energy, your fuel or your willpower on futile things initially (in the first half of the day) that’s it !

Although there’s no problem in entertaining yourself for 10-15 minutes after working for 1 or one and half hours. The problem arises when you’re studying for half an hour and then spending 2 hours on your phone. Meaning, a little control over your mind is necessary. Time is wasted where our mind, our senses, our intellect don’t have control. So, work as hard as you can during your high-energy times. After waking up, dedicate at least 4 hours to essential things first. And by doing this, you almost take control of your day. If you control every day applying this concept, then each week, each month, and each year will automatically come under your control and this way, your entire life will be under your control.
