5 Best Habits of Mentally Strong People

Due to mental weakness, many intelligent, sharp, and talented individuals lag behind in life. Meanwhile, those with less knowledge, who are just average, tend to excel due to mental toughness. When a person is unhappy, confused, or doubtful in life, 90% of the time the reason is mental weakness. So, the 5 things I’m going to talk about today will set you apart from the crowd of 99% and make you one of the strong 1%. Each of these things I have observed through personal experience and to be honest, these are the things that matter the most in today’s world for achieving success, earning respect, and becoming someone no one wants to lose. Believe me, external factors cannot ruin you if you just start paying a little attention to it.

1. Be the Master, Not the Slave of Pleasures – You need to engage in instant pleasure – activities when you want to, not when they dictate. I enjoy watching reels for entertainment like everyone else, but only when I choose to. I decide when to party, how much time to spend on Instagram, when to watch a movie, when to go out. I make the decisions conciously , not when a video is suggested or when someone recommends a movie or web series, putting everything aside and just start watching. this is a sign of mental weakness. Such a person can’t control their mind or feelings. These are the people who promise themselves to study for two hours, but the next moment, they are scrolling through social media. When I open YouTube for something important and an attractive video is suggested, even if I feel like watching it, I don’t give in, even if it’s just for a minute or two. I add it to ‘watch later’ and watch it after finishing my work. You should practice this too. You shouldn’t always listen to your mind. “Control your mind, your feelings, your pleasures, don’t let them control you.”

2. Embrace the Taste of Pain – Our minds are often in pursuit of comfort and pleasure. We crave enjoyment at all times. However, it’s discomfort or pain that gives life its meaning. It’s what separates an individual from the crowd, forging us into a warrior.
I have a friend who wakes up at 4 a.m. every morning to run 10-15 kilometers, spends two hours in the gym both morning and evening, follows a strict diet, and still manages to study. Regardless of pain, fever, or lack of motivation, he sticks to his daily routine. He remains committed to his daily regimen. Such individuals exemplify mental strength and hold immense value both within themselves and in the eyes of the world. Contrastingly, those enslaved by comfort chase fleeting pleasures without striving for personal growth. They prefer an easy life, expecting rewards without effort.

To stand out from the crowd, you must join the ranks of the 1% of strong individuals, leaving behind the 99% who seek comfort without challenge. Therefore, it’s essential to start doing things that make you uncomfortable but strengthen your body and mind. It’s unnecessary to mention the benefits of exercising, meditating, reading outside your field, journaling, dedicating time to a skill daily, or simply going for a walk without any devices, learning a new language, cooking, engaging in conversations with strangers, or using free language exchange apps can also significantly contribute to your personal growth.
By trying new uncomfortable experiences, you challenge yourself and expand your horizons, gain new experiences and grow. Instead of fleeing from uncomfortable situations like the weak, mentally strong individuals adapt and thrive.
Two months ago, I couldn’t cook at all. One day, I decided to start and see how long it would take me to learn. Now, regardless of where I am, I can cook decent meals for myself, whereas previously, I relied entirely on others.

3. Become Bulletproof – One of my friends messaged me on WhatsApp while I was busy. I saw the message but forgot to reply. Later, when we talked, he mentioned not getting a reply that day, and it made him feel like I was upset with him. I explained to him how unnecessary worrying about such things can be. I want to share this with you too.
We often dwell on insignificant concerns like how others perceive us or why someone hasn’t responded to our messages. We often waste time and energy overthinking situations that won’t matter in the long run.
Consider this: if we waste three out of four days worrying about a reply that never came, where does that leave us? Moreover, no matter how hard we try, we cannot control what others think of us or how they perceive our actions. People will talk, criticize, and form opinions regardless of our achievements or efforts.

The key takeaway here is to stop stressing over things beyond our control. Don’t waste your time and energy on people’s opinions, their thoughts, or their viewpoints. You can’t please everyone, no matter what you do. If you want to make everyone happy then go sell ice cream. If you don’t want to say ‘NO’ in a situation, say it. Someone is getting upset, so be it. If you’re doing what’s right for yourself and taking steps forward, but it doesn’t sit well with someone else, remember, that’s their problem, not yours. Become bulletproof against unnecessary worries and prioritize your well-being and goals above all else. Ultimately, people value those who prioritize themselves and their work.

4. Adopt ‘Process’ Mentality – You might have heard about people who never give up. Even when things don’t seem to be going their way and results are not showing up, they persist. We often panic after encountering failure just once or twice. How do these individuals manage to keep going? The reason lies in their understanding that sometime things take time to happen. They don’t expect immediate results. If you believe that success will come if you work hard enough, if you genuinely feel this way, then don’t expect quick results. Just keep working, improving, and learning.
I’m posting this after having zero views and impressions on my last 10-12 posts. Even on my YouTube channel, despite having 44k subscribers, I struggle to get 200 views. Someone even DM’d me on Instagram asking about the consistency of my videos. I replied that I’m not expecting much because I don’t think my content is at that level yet. It needs further improvement. So if views are low, it’s okay. It will improve with time.
Do your best, work hard, and expect less. This will keep you happy, prevent overthinking, and keep you from feeling demotivated. Most importantly, it will make you mentally strong. If good outcomes come, that’s great. But if they don’t, you won’t be unhappy. Instead of panicking and sitting idle, you’ll continue working, improving, and remaining consistent. This is a secret that few people know – not expecting quick results and focusing on the process can lead to significant changes in life. So, pay attention to the process and emerge as a strong individual.

5. Hold Yourself Accountabile – Lazy and weak people often think that the problems in their lives should be solved by someone else – the government, their parents, their friends or others. They constantly blame everyone else for their troubles instead of taking responsibility for themselves.
” This is the responsibility of the government, it’s the parents’, it’s theirs, it’s theirs, It should be done this way, it should be done that way.” Except themselves, they keep blaming everyone for their problems. No sir, life is yours, and so is the responsibility. On the contrary, mentally strong individuals don’t expect too much from others. They address their shortcomings and solve their problems on their own. Average people spend their entire lives blaming others but do nothing to change their situation. You just need to realize that you are solely responsible for everything in your life. If you want to change something, you have to take action. Adopt this mindset, and believe me, you will go far.

“Look, at first, following these things might feel uncomfortable, but this is exactly what will make you a different person, a solid individual. And I’m not saying you have to start applying all these things together today. You just need to make 1-2 of these things a habit per week. Take small actions and just keep doing them consistently. If you’re up for this challenge, if you’re aiming to make yourself mentally strong, then go ahead and write something in the comments. If you have reached this point, this post ( click here ) may prove to be life-changing for you, as it is related to this very topic. Wish you all the very best, thank you.
